AUTOMATED LONGARM QUILTING

Quilting Design

image1

When designing the look of your finished piece, consider quilting to enhance or reflect:

  • piecing layout
  • featured fabrics
  • intended recipient

Edge to edge patterns

image2

Edge to edge quilting patterns provide texture with a repeated motif and uniform density of quilting.

Block patterns

Using one or more block quilting patterns allows more customization for the finished look of your pieced top. Borders and sashing can also be quilted separately.

How to prep your top for quilting

image4

  • Press all seams to smooth your top
  • If piecing extends to the edges of your quilt top, please machine baste around the edges to secure your seams before quilting
  • Select a backing fabric that is 8 inches wider and 8 inches longer than your pieced top to facilitate loading on the longarm quilting frame - NO SHEETS **
  • If providing your own batting, size it as you would for backing fabric **

Cost Schedule

image5

Costs are based on quilt size and whether quilting design uses edge-to-edge or block layouts. Unless special threads are requested, costs for threads and needles are not itemized in quilting estimates.

Edge-to-edge estimates:  length[inches] x width[inches] x $.02/sq.in.

Batting, if I provide:  Separate cost based on type and size of batting used (all cotton or 80/20 blend).

** Excess batting is yours...consider some accessory pieces if you have additional batting and backing length.

** You know that extra length of backing and batting left over from your quilting project? Let's toss on pieces of extra fabric to make hot pads or place mats or runners... You get to join in on the design.

Overall costs are reduced by taking advantage of an already-loaded quilt.
